Logs: October 18, 2026 - José Ronaldo Xavier, Cabedelo PB, BRAZIL

Received from José Ronaldo Xavier:

** CUBA. 15140, Sun Oct 18 at 1413, S9+15/20 of deadair diirect from

SAWA RHC, and without! a howl. 1500 still DA in weekly Esperanto,
S9+10 into Georgia SDR. Sounds clean but on H2Ofall I see at least
three weak carriers on each side of 15140, all much less than 1 kHz
away, more like 100 Hz intervals (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1170, Oct 18 at 0707 UT, no IBOC noise audible on 1183 or
1157 from KOTV Tulsa, but also abnormally weak on 1170 itself with
CCI. Allows me to hear WHAM? on 1180 without having to listen on LSB.
Hope KOTV IBOC gone for good, still seems off at 1436 UT. KRLD 1067 &
1093 quit it a few weeks ago, but still KSL 1147 & 1173 only
significant IBOC left? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11660.004, Sun Oct 18 at 1638, VOT English news, S9/+25
into UTwente, sufficient but I switch to webcast. 1642 & 1647 two
songs with info about the singers, but can`t understand the names
anyway. 1651 `Letterbox` theme, with Cemre. Winter is arriving, snow
on mountains N of Ankara Friday, and time to switch to winter tyres,
queues at tyreshops. She has already, should do so by Nov 15 tho
optional. Istanbul had big storm stalled Tue/Wed causing flooding, 4
deaths, 3000 rescued. On Thu there was 129.6 mm of rain {= 5.1 inches}
but somewhere else there has been 3X that much in one day.

New B26 sked goes into effect next Sunday, but TBA, *not yet*
available! Write and ask for it and it will be sent ASAP. Or let us
know where you find L`Box. ``Lean`` show this week, 5 people called:
1) Fareed? Hussein, Bangladesh, first time. 2) Alokesh Gupta, New
Delhi, always requests new sked each season. 3) Siddartha Papajarjee,
W Bengal: 27/9 World Tourism Day, Q&A about that. Tourism brought in
65 gigadollars US in 2025. Mentions some of the most popular
destinations. There is one more she will be visiting in November. 4)
A. Kuznetsov, Riga, Latvia, had weak signal. 5) Mr Bain of SWL club in
India, greetings on some Hindu festival. 1706 ending, 1707 theme.
Based on HFCC registrations I have already reported B26 scheduling,
but final might not be identical (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Re month-old WOR airing on WA0RCR, Vern explains:
``Hi Glenn, I apologize for the mix up. Yesterday was very long at
work; and I had five programs to get ready; starting after 8:20 PM
CDT. I did WOR at about 1:45 AM. I finished the program log and got to
bed about 5:45 AM Saturday
morning. Newsletter started at 9 AM. I will check; I don't know how I
did that; but I will be more careful in the future! I normally
download and record WOR on Thursday evening; but not this week. Again,
sorry for the mix up. I and all the listeners appreciate the effort
you put into the program every week. By the way, last week you had
reported strong interference on about 1842 KHz. I have no idea of what
may have caused that. It could have from a packet or FT8 transmission
from a station very close to your location. Or possible, a rogue wall
wart power supply? Or random oscillation in a TV distribution
amplifier? Or a Spectrum cable modem box? If you hear it again in the
future; it might give some clues. 73, Vern Jackson, The Gateway 160
Meter Radio Newsletter.``

** U S A. 7505, Sun Oct 18 at 1029, WRNO with gospel huxtress in
English, S9+40 direct. Rather sure it was not on earlier, circa 0700
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 660, Oct 18 at 0715 UT tune-in to immediate ID in perfect
English for ``KTNN Window Rock, Tohatchi, Fort Defiance``, and C&W
music. Tohatchi is nearby on the NM side and Fort Defiance is right
north of W.R. on the AZ side. They rotate mentioning other towns in
the Res. Still obviously challenging WFAN NY eastward on 660 from site
on AZ side north of Ft Defiance. Tohatchi is the CoL for their FM
101.5. Ft Defiance`s interesting history:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 770, Oct 18 at 0700 UT, WABC NY dominating now, with
``Worldwide News Net`` news, NOT Fox, at least not now, as I assumed
from NRC AM Log listing which shows only these affiliations for its
NWS/TLK format: ``WWN/Fox/WW1`` - the last one being Westwood One,
which syndicates lots of programming, but any straight news?
Understation maybe KKOB, not KCBI. NRC also shows I = IBOC noise for
WABC but I don`t detect that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1180, Oct 18 at 0706 UT, partial ID as ``96-1 FM`` in
English. That makes it very likely WHAM Rochester, which despite U1
50/50 kW have not heard in ages; usual dominant is KZOT NE. Only other
96.1 in NRC AM Log on 1180 is KGEO in CA. No IBOC noise: see OKLAHOMA
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1280, Oct 18 at 0705 UT romantic music in Spanish. Based
on power and proximity my best USguess would be KBNO Denver CO, U4 5/5
kW. But there are many other USSS in NRC AM Log, mostly well under 1
kW at night, in: AZ, DE, FL, FL, NM, NY, WA. How about MEXICO? IRCA
Log shows three actives, one of which is partially ROM along with NWS
and REC: XEAW Monterrey NL 10/1 kW but supposedly off air 0600-1200
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
